Course Map
The Heart of the City Half Marathon is a USATF certified course. The run begins in the area of the Nicollet Commons Park, near Burnsville Parkway and Nicollet Avenue in Burnsville, Minnesota. The runners proceed north on Nicollet Avenue to Cliff Road where they turn left and run north along the Wildlife Refuge area (on the paved bike path for approximately ½ a mile) until they come to Black Dog Road (4b on the map above) where they will turn right and proceed east along the Minnesota River near Black Dog Lake. They run on Black Dog Road to the Jens Casperson Park area (near Cedar Avenue/Hwy 77) where there will be a turn-around area. At the turn-around area, we will have a deejay set up playing music and we encourage spectators to go to this turn-around point to cheer on the runners. The runners then proceed back the same way from where they came. The finish line will be located at the Clif Phen Park on Cliff Road, which provides a flat and fast finish for runners.

The event and all the activities will be set up in the area of the Nicollet Commons Park. The address is 7 West Travelers Trail, Burnsville, Minnesota 55337.
Directions from the north: 35W south to Highway 13 North East to Nicollet Avenue. (You can park at the MVTA station on the northeast corner of this intersection). Otherwise, turn right and go south on Nicollet Avenue. The high-top tents will be visible on the right hand side (or west side) of Nicollet Avenue. Parking is also available if you proceed south on Nicollet from Highway 13 to Burnsville Parkway and turn right (west) to Pillsbury Avenue. Parking is available in the Burnsville Senior High Campus Parking Lot area on the right.
